National Register
The FNMTC manages the National Register comprising a list of practitioners in business and training colleges.
The National Register is a directory containing the contact details of practitioners in business who hold a diploma and are recognised by the Federation*.
It also lists colleges that have been accredited by the Federation*.
*Affiliation does not become effective until approved by the Accreditation Committee.
Course Criteria
The FNMTC defines the course criteria for all accredited colleges and manages the list of students and alumni.
They also define the conditions and contents of inter-college examinations.
The Confederal DNMTC® Certification/DATC® examination at the end of their course.
Official Representation
The FNMTC represents all accredited colleges and professional organisations in dealings with national and international bodies.
The actions taken by the Federation aim to achieve the following:
- Recognition of TCM by the authorities,
- Contacts with national media,
- Contacts and discussions with equivalent structures in the other relevant countries. Within the European Union, the FNMTC is the only body representing France in the ETCMA (European Traditional Chinese Medicine Association),
- Representation in international bodies. The FNMTC wants to become the main contact because it is the profession’s most representative association.
Professional Charter and Code of Ethics
Professional Charter
The FNMTC drafts the Charter defining the roles of colleges, professional organisations and practitioners.
The Charter contains legislative texts applicable to the profession.
It defines TCM, the division of roles and the limits, duties and responsibilities of our corporation.
Code of Ethics
The FNMTC drafts the Code of Professional Ethics and monitors compliance.
The Code of Ethics specifies the general duties of a Chinese medicine practitioner.
- His duties towards patients,
- His duties towards his colleagues.
Socio-Professional Protection
The FNMTC takes all legal and administrative measures and provides socio-professional protection.
The problems solved include the search for professional liability insurance for practitioners and colleges.
- Third party liability for the operation of a practice,
- Professional liability,
- Legal liability including defence and appeal insurance,
- Health insurance and pensions for practitioners,
- In the future, car insurance, etc.
Public Relations
The FNMTC provides the general public and healthcare professionals with neutral, objective information.
TCM is not well-known. It suffers from a lack of communication and a host of preconceived ideas.
Our profession has a duty to provide information so that the general public knows more about its possibilities and skills. This is done through media-targeted actions and other vectors of communication.
Research
The FNMTC encourages programmes of research into Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Research is of vital, fundamental importance if we are to advance the cause of TCM and provide patients with even more effective responses to relieve their suffering.
Research also shows the scientific world the possibilities afforded by TCM.
Finally, research removes all false interpretations, errors or even charlatanism. To achieve this, the FNMTC keeps watch.
National Conference
The FNMTC holds an annual National Conference and organises seminars, etc.
Communication is assisted by an annual conference that brings together practitioners, students and anybody interested in TCM.
The Conference is held every year at the end of October or beginning of November. (the first conference was held in 1997).
Conferences provide the general public with information on the concepts that underpin this type of medicine.
The media help to circulate news of such events and, in doing so, play a part in their success.

Traditional Chinese Medicine, the emergence of a profession!
18th June 2002: founding of the French Confederation of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The Fédération Nationale de Medecine Traditionnelle Chinoise (FNMTC) and the Union Française des Professionnels de Medecine Traditionnelle Chinoise (UFPMTC) joined forces to set up the Confédération Française de Medecine Traditionnelle Chinoise (CFMTC).
Spurred on by a determination to overcome divisions and lay solid foundations for the profession of Chinese medicine practitioner in France, these respective groups of Chinese medicine professionals are resolutely opening doors – all the current trends in Chinese medicine in our country will be contacted, with no ostracism, to create one vast movement in support of this new profession.
8th and 9th March 2005: two historic dates for the CFMTC and Traditional Chinese Medicine in France!
The French Confederation of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CFMTC), an umbrella organisation for all professional bodies in France representing TCM, has been extended by the membership of the French section of the PEFCTCM (Pan-European Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultants and the SIATTEC (Independent Union of Traditional Acupuncturists and Chinese Energy Therapists).
This makes the C.F.M.T.C. the largest organisation representing Traditional Chinese Medicine in France!
1st October 2005: the CFMTC was presented at the 2nd World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) conference at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris.
The traditional Chinese medicine practitioners attending the conference publicly and highly symbolically signed the French Confederation’s Code of Ethics before the Press and in the presence of Mrs. She Jing, Vice-Minister for Health in China, President of the World Federation, President of the Academy of Chinese Medicine in China; Mr. Li Zhenji, Vice-President of the Bureau of Chinese Medicine, Vice-President and Secretary General of the World Federation; and Mr. Xavier Emmanuelli, co-founder of Médecins sans Frontières, former Secretary of State for humanitarian aid, founder and President of the Samu social (emergency service for the homeless)!
